The LSU Rowing team is a well-respected group of athletes determined to excel in Rowing. In the fall semester, they participate in three and four or five races during the spring season.

At both Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships and American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championship, our rowers face top competition from powerhouse schools like Texas, Clemson, Michigan and Virginia, among others!

The program’s primary purpose is to cultivate competitive athletes who can bring honour and success back home to Louisiana State University.

LSU Rowing’s legacy dates back to 1933 when four generous donors bestowed upon the university a tupelo cypress swamp near campus. With their contribution came an agreement: LSU would turn these swamps into public parks and lakes to be used forever.

In the 1980s, several students recognized an opportunity and started the rowing team, hoping to incorporate University Lake. However, nature had other ideas; the local government intervened and began dredging University Lake to restore it into swampland. After many years of abstinence from this activity, the team was eventually reestablished in 2004.

LSU’s Rowing Club was recently relocated to White Oak River near Cape Carteret and is poised with spacious facilities, modern equipment, and fresh water and marsh access. Overall, LSU grants members who participate in memorable experiences that foster sportsmanship and promote team spirit.

Louisiana State University Tigers

Louisiana State University Tigers is located in Baton Rouge, LA, and the Rowing program competes in the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) conference. Louisiana State University’s Tigers are proud to offer athletic scholarships for Rowing.
